For the first instalment of the journal, we sit down with co-founder and Creative Director Heidi Gosman, to hear her talk about her favourite bikini style – the classic triangle bikini.
“When we began the brand twenty years ago, we wanted to provide customers with beautifully made swimwear and when we began the design process, we wanted to create a bikini that offers the understated chicness of a simple, yet classic, triangle bikini set. There is something so gorgeously simple and unfussy about the triangle shape. With an appealing symmetry of three triangles showcased as the main aspects of the design – it’s arguably the most iconic of all the bikini shapes. To me, it’s reminiscent of Californian surfer girls from the 60’s – the epitome of timeless style."
"Yet traditionally, the very nature of the bikini offers very little support for the wearer. Our challenge was to capture this aesthetic whilst offering support behind-the-scenes. By creating exactly the right amount of coverage in the bikini bottom, with adjustable soft rope ties to prevent any digging-in over the hip area, we ensured the bikini bottom was super-flattering. For the triangle top, in addition to using luxe fabrics more substantial in density than others in the market, we also added removeable padding, to subtly enhance the cleavage - plus we adorned the pieces with our signature gold bamboo trims, which subtly elevate and enhance the otherwise simplicity of the bikini."
"Our Rope Triangle bikini soon became one of our most loved, best-fitting and best-selling bikinis – and has stayed the test of time. Each season, the design team introduces a new selection of vibrant seasonal colours and hand-painted prints – but for me, the classic black rope bikini, which looks gorgeous with sunkissed skin, is the most striking. It’s swimwear at it most chic and understated.“
